About the job:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Qualified Social Worker to join Suffolk County Council’s Children and Young People’s Directorate (CYP) in the Leaving Care Service Team.

The role is for up to 1 year to cover maternity leave and is based in Ipswich.

You will work with a specialist team of Social Workers and Personal Advisers to deliver high quality social care services to young people leaving care throughout Suffolk.

  • Hold a case load of primarily 16 and 17 year-old care leavers, providing 1-1 support,
  • Work with young people to develop the skills and support they need to make a successful move away from care and towards more independent living,
  • Promote the need for improvement and act as a role model for change,
  • Be positive, committed, adaptable and thorough, those around you will appreciate your confident approach and your personal integrity,
  • Be able to work to deadlines and motivate others to work effectively.
  • Have experience of working with young people in a professional capacity, as well as an understanding of the issues and challenges that affect Care Leavers as they move into independence,

  • Have enthusiasm and be creative in engaging young people,
  • Have an experience of partnership working and working successfully with colleagues in other services on complex issues,
  • Suitable professional qualification at graduate level or equivalent experience in a relevant area of work,
  • Social Work Qualification/ HCPC registration,
  • Substantial post qualification experience.
  • £400 ‘Golden Hello’ payment
