About the job:

If you are looking to join an ‘Outstanding’ Children and Young People’s Service (CYP) we have the role for you. We are seeking dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Workers to provide social care service to children, young people and their families in Suffolk.

As part of CYP and Suffolk County Council, you will be providing a service that reflects Suffolk County Council’s ASPIRE values; Achieve, Support, Pride, Inspire, Respect & Empower. The CYP service are committed to working together, striving to improve and ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and families in Suffolk.

The roles are based in various CYP teams and locations across Suffolk, including; Ipswich, Bury St. Edmunds, Lowestoft, Beccles and Haverhill.

There are full-time and part-time hours as a job share available.

  • Work directly with children, young people and families using the Suffolk Signs of Safety and Wellbeing framework,
  • Act as Lead Professional for named families, being the key contact with the family and liaising with other professionals to provide a joined up response,
  • Work alongside children, young people, parents and families where there are early signs of social, emotional, health or behavioural issues to bring about sustainable improvement,
  • Take responsibility for managing cases and holding appropriate levels of risk,
  • To identify risk and safeguarding concerns and escalate immediately where appropriate,
  • Actively build relationships and networks with other professional groups and services in the locality.

  • You will possess highly developed knowledge and experience of Social Work Practice in Children’s Services,
  • 2 years’ experience within the specialist area that you apply for,
  • Have experience of collaborative work with families,
  • You will be highly self-reflective and able to work within a therapeutic framework,
  • Ability to recognise and act on Child Protection and risk issues and escalate as appropriate
  • Enthusiasm and highly developed communication skills,
  • The ability to be organised and meet deadlines,
  • Commitment to listening to children and families and to working collaboratively with them to address concerns.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in children’s services
  • Social worker qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • HCPC registration
  • Current enhanced DBS certificate valid to work with children
  • £400 ‘Golden Hello’ payment
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays)
