About the Job:

We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to take on our Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Officer role within Peterborough City Council.

As a Flood Risk and Drainage Officer, you will provide extensive experience in handling planning consultations on behalf of the LLFA as well experience in Flood Investigations. Supporting key roles within the council to enable the council to deliver an effective and efficient service.

We are looking for someone with extensive experience in handling planning consultations on behalf of the LLFA as well experience in Flood Investigations. The individual will have experience of working within the Local Authority as part of the Lead Local Flood Authority and be a self-starter who can work independently

  • Ensure, as a Lead Local Flood Authority, that PCC meets its statutory duties arising as a result of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, Highways Act 1980 and associated other flood related regulations, European directives and local policy.
  • Provide responses to planning applications including pre-application enquiries in respect to drainage and flood risk aspects of new developments.
  • Critically review and validate expert advice provided by consultants.
  • As and when heavy rain or flood incidents occur, work as a part of the Sustainable Drainage Team and with colleagues in the Resilience Team to assist in co-ordinating the council’s response to flood events.
  • The job will have no line management responsibility but will effectively cover elements of two vacant positions within the team specifically; to ensure that the council meets its obligations by responding to planning applications but to also advise on Flood Investigations and other elements on the LLFA.
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays)
