About the role:

The Senior Estates Surveyor is responsible for delivering a range of estate management case work for the Northampton office, from high value and complex cases, to business as usual cases requiring professional input. Senior Estates Surveyors work in both the Urban and Rural Management teams and may have specialisms in particular aspects of professional work, and the professional workload in the office at this level is balanced across appropriate individuals.

  • To be responsible for the delivery of a case load including operational Urban/Rural property management, valuations and transactions, to represent LGSS within internal and external environments in respect of operational property matters, and to represent the interests of key Shareholders as appropriate.
  • To provide direction and technical advice to Urban/Rural Estate Management team colleagues, as appropriate, or as directed by the Estate Manager.
  • To provide good quality professional advice to Strategic Assets’ customers in the Cambridge Office on estate management and valuation matters, and to advise Service Directorate colleagues on professional and technical issues.
  • To contribute to the delivery of delegated LGSS and LGSS-Managed budgets on target, including the delivery of any agreed savings and efficiencies targets.
  • Urban – To deliver property disposals within appropriate timescales and in line with best value requirements, which contribute to the delivery of annual Capital Receipts targets.
  • Urban – To carry out valuations for the delivery of the Annual Fixed Asset Valuation programme, to liaise with Finance colleagues to ensure that all information is required to the appropriate timescale and standard.
  • Urban – To manage complex projects on behalf of customers and shareholders, to plan, identify and anticipate challenges and obstacles within those projects and work together with stakeholders to identify value for money solutions.
  • An ability to recognise and consider wider corporate objectives, and to take responsibility for influencing and negotiating key stakeholders to achieve outcomes which meet those objectives, whilst still delivering value for money.
  • To manage stakeholders and ensure appropriate governance is completed to enable delivery of required outcomes.
  • Educated to degree level in Estate Management or similar
  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (or equivalent professional qualification)
  • Up to date knowledge of Property Valuation, Property and Estate Management, Landlord and Tenant and Property Transactions
  • The ability to establish good rapport and open and honest relationships with Customers, from the public, partner organisations, senior officers and Members
  • The ability to identify innovative and creative solutions to problems and plans to create and deliver win: win outcomes
