On behalf of Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, we are having a big push to promote Locum qualified social workers to join the trusts Children’s services. There are a number of roles that are available not only permanently, but also as a locum practitioner so you can see what it is like to work for the authority for yourself.
We are seeking experienced Social Workers to join the front line Children’s services teams which include:
Duty & Assessment:
We have a wonderful Duty and Assessment Team (DAAT) (DAT) here at Northamptonshire Children’s Trust!
We provide the front line, single point of contact for the public and professionals who are making referrals with concerns for children who are at risk of significant harm or who are children in need. Working with a broad range of agencies and services in our region, you will be responsible for responding to new referrals from professionals and members of the public.
You will have the opportunity to work with children and young people on a short term basis after the initial referral until your cases transfer from the DAAT to other teams.
Our safeguarding teams are working to focus on creative problem solving and keeping children and families together.
There are 14 safeguarding teams, across Northamptonshire, each team consists of a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, who holds complex cases and supports 5 or 6 Senior Social Workers/Social Workers and a Newly Qualified Social Worker within their team.
We are supporting excellence in Social Work practice, with a signs of safety based approach, and clear personal development opportunities for the right candidates.
Our Support and Safeguarding Teams are highly supportive. The team uses the Signs of Safety embedded model and has Practice Champions.
To qualify to join us at this exciting period of transformation within Northampton, you will need a degree in Social Work, a valid Social Work England Registration, at least 12 months of post qualification experience, a driving licence and car.

This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for the role. Enhanced DBS clearance and SW England required. Some posts in MASH and First Response (s47) teams are based in the Criminal Justice Centre (CJC) and are therefore subject to annual vetting by Northamptonshire Police. This clearance is required to undertake the role.
