About the job:

We are currently looking for dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapists to work in Suffolk County Council’s Independence and Wellbeing Service to promote independence, wellbeing and choice for customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to maximise customers’ independence by meeting their needs as quickly as possible, whether they are straight-forward, complex or enduring.

We currently have roles based in Bury St. Edmunds and Lowestoft. A full job description is available on request.

  • Provide Occupational Therapy within the Independence and Wellbeing team as part of service users assessment and reablement programme,
  • Create opportunities for customers coming through the Independence and Wellbeing Service to have more choice and control over maximising their independence and the support they access,
  • Work with customers and their carers whose needs are very complex, to assist them with their plan of support,
  • To record assessments, notes and recommendations onto databases and accurately recording outcomes,
  • Provide outstanding outcomes for customers,
  • Lead on embedding practice of digital care,
  • Work effectively and in partnership with other professionals in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • An understanding of the importance of promoting independence, empowerment and reablement,
  • Knowledge of equipment, effect and therapeutic uses,
  • Person centred skills including, respect and sensitivity in order to meet customer needs, goals, and cultural identities,
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written,
  • An ability to demonstrate equipment, advise on methods to a range of people including customers and informal carers,
  • A high level of literacy and numeracy skills for report writing and information recording,
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience as an Occupational Therapist,
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy,
  • Current HCPC professional registration,
  • An understanding of OT related legislation,
  • Current enhanced DBS certificate valid to work with Adult’s (or willingness to complete)
  • Holiday entitlement of up to 31 days per annum, pro rata (including bank holidays)
