About the job:

We have an exciting opportunity for a finance assistant to join our team at Opus People Solutions.

As Finance Assistant you will support the finance department by completing clerical and accounting tasks, maintaining reports and completing bookkeeping, payroll and accounting duties for the company.

This vacancy is available as either a permanent role or fixed term contract with full time or part time hours and will involve some working from home initially.

• Prepare financial documents such as invoices and self-bills
• Process weekly payroll
• Credit Control
• Complete financial reports on a regular basis and providing information to the finance team
• Complete daily bank reconciliations
• Enter financial information into Sage
• Manage company ledgers
• Assist with internal and external audits
• Verify balances in account books and rectifying discrepancies
• Verify bank deposits
• Manage day-to-day transactions
• Enter Ad Hoc invoices
• Update financial information on our InTime (pay and billing) system
• Assist workers, clients and suppliers with a range of queries
• Create Bacs files and Faster Payments
• Reconcile reports to identify margin errors
• Report on debtors and creditors
• Encode accounting entries for data processing via journals

  • Significant experience of managing deadlines and delivering targets
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure by managing own workload and covering colleagues’ work in absence
  • Be organised and able to re-prioritise as the business requires
  • Evidence of having a positive impact on previous organisations
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve better outcomes for the business
  • Organised, can prioritise workloads and able to work effectively under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, mainly Excel
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbally) with the ability to influence and support decision making
  • Be able to deliver complex information clearly and consistently
  • Attention to detail
  • Have the confidence to challenge peers professionally when required
  • Strong team player
  • Believe in and deliver the Opus values
  • Right to work in the UK

• AAT part or qualified, or equivalent (QBE)
• Previous knowledge and use of Sage preferable
