About the job:

As a Corporate Policy Manager working for Cambridgeshire County Council through Opus East, you will be responsible for managing policy projects and leading the development of high-quality policy and strategy practice across the Council. Working collaboratively across the Council and wider system to support and enable to delivery of effective evidence based policy techniques, the Policy Manager will ensure that development follows best practice principles and in accordance with the legislation and governance frameworks.

Remote working currently, IT equipment may need to be collected/returned to CCC.  Head Office relocating to Alconbury Weald.

  • Manage policy projects and the development of strategic responses to key policy developments, and develop policy positions.
  • Support the Corporate Policy and Strategy team to contribute to the Council’s strategic aims through the use of evidence based policy techniques and development of corporate policy framework.
  • Develop, lead and embed high quality policy development practice across the organisation.
  • Be jointly accountable, alongside services, for the delivery and benefit realisation of the council’s transformation and strategic change programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, both internally and across the system, brokering relationships, identifying, and mitigating risks and understand potential barriers.
  • Ensure equality and diversity is included and embedded within all programmes and projects.
  • Manage resources within agreed procedures and budgets.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and hold a professional qualification/membership. Previous experience of managing organisation and/or cultural change together with significant programme and project management is required, ideally gained within local government.
