About the job:

Opus People Solutions on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council are looking for an Assistant Warehouse Manager to join the  Local Test and Trace Team. As Assistant Warehouse Manager you will assist the Warehouse Manager in the support of Cambridgeshire County Council’s Covid- 19 response by providing an efficient and organised stock control (goods in and out) process that meets the needs of the service.

Warehouse is based in Alconbury Weald, PE28 4WX.

The warehouse operates Monday to Friday between 8.30am-5pm.

Very occasional weekend work.

  • Assist in the management of an efficient stock storage and control service to Cambridgeshire County Council’s covid-19 response.
  • Day to day assistance in the management of the day to day running, goods in/ goods out process, efficiency of the warehouse operation.
  • Logistics – able to assist the warehouse manager in arranging deliveries of stock to locations across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
  • Adherence to strict Health and Safety protocols.
  • Compliance with regards to the Warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Assist the warehouse manager with the recording and compliance of warehouse documents and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the warehouse manager with reviewing of processes and controls.
  • The preparation, picking and packing of orders, as and when required.
  • Taking in of deliveries.
  • Weekly inspection of warehouse associated vehicles and recording of these.
  • Daily housekeeping and duties associated with the warehouses.
  • Driving, between warehouses and to locations in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to make deliveries as required.
  • Adherence to wider Cambridgeshire County Council organisation policies and procedures.
  • Experience of health and safety in the work environment.
  • Some knowledge of warehousing and stock control methods and procedures.
  • Strong and effective communication.
  • Good organisation with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage workloads.
  • Flexibility to manage and adapt to change.
  • Positive attitude in challenging situations.
  • Problem-solving skills to find solutions and make decisions.
  • Quick at learning new software systems and technologies.
  • Good IT skills particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Good literacy and numeracy.
