About the Role
The aim of the role is to maximise the quality of life and increase independence for the children and young people DCYP supports. As well as to enhance safety for the children and young people by providing specialist equipment and adaptations and supporting parents and carers in their caring roles
Responsibilities:
- You will provide high quality occupational therapy assessments of need within the local authorities statutory responsibility.
- These assessments will take place in the home environment for children and young people with complex disabilities.
- Assessments are carried out to identify difficulties and solutions are explored to overcome them through advice and information; the provision of equipment; minor / major adaptations and liaison with professionals from health and education.
- You will work closely with wider organisations such as Housing organisations and Community Equipment Services.
- You'll carry out high-quality assessments in home environments, identifying needs and recommending solutions through:
- Specialist equipment
- Minor and major adaptations
- Advice and support for families and carers
Beacon House, Ipswich (Flexible base: West Suffolk House, Bury or Riverside, Lowestoft
Requirements:
- HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
- Experience working with Children with Disabilities(Social Care setting desirable)
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage your own caseload
- Excellent communication skills for working with families and professionals
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
