About the Role
Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Consultant Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub team in Ipswich. This is a critical role within our safeguarding service, where you will be responsible for gathering information, assessing referrals, and making informed recommendations for next steps in line with the Suffolk Thresholds Document.
This position is ideal for a highly skilled social work professional with strong analytical and decision-making abilities, who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based (5 days per week)
Key Responsibilities
- Screen and assess referrals received by MASH to determine risk and appropriate intervention.
- Gather and analyse information from multiple agencies, including health, education, and police partners.
- Apply Suffolk's Thresholds Document to ensure consistent and proportionate decision-making.
- Make clear, evidence-based recommendations for next steps, including escalation where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements.
- Contribute to a collaborative, multi-agency approach to safeguarding children and young people.
Essential Requirements
- MUST have previous MASH experience - this is non-negotiable.
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practice.
- Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
