Job description

The role holder will undertake the validation and registration processes of planning, appeals, enforcement applications, administrative processes and determination of minor application types such as Certificate of Lawful Development applications in accordance with the needs of the Development Management Service to meet its statutory functions and responsibilities. This in turn supports the Council's targets for growth, housing, employment, retail, community facilities, waste facilities and the provision of minerals sites to a high performance standard.

The role holder will also be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all of our customers.

Key Objectives

1

Provide technical and general planning process advice and guidance to customers, colleagues and external agencies to meet service delivery requirements through following policy, procedures and protocols and supporting the application of best practice.

Carry out validation checks on planning applications/notifications/ submissions in accordance with national and local planning legislation, using professional judgement to determine if the required information has been supplied in a timely manner.

Identify and carry out publicity, consultations and identification of planning constraints on properties for planning applications in accordance with national and local legislation and procedures.

Carry out administrative support duties including scanning, indexing, redaction processes and archiving in accordance with Data Protection and local procedures.

Maintenance of Statutory Registers and associated records. Contribute to collation of statistical information.

Collation of data for Freedom of Information and Environmental Information requests within the Development Management Service.

The calculation, checking and financial recording of planning applications fees and other local charges.

Assisting with other statutory functions within the Development Management Service including Enforcement support. This will include, but is not limited to answering calls, registering complaints, and providing technical and general advice to customers, agents and colleagues.

Contribute and engage with the continuous improvement of the Development Management Service including forthcoming project improvements.

Determine minor application types such as Certificates of Lawful Development applications including:

· Research,

· Consultation of relevant parties,

· Assisting Councillors, Town and Parish Councils and others to understand proposals,

· Negotiations with applicants and professional agents,

· Preparation of reports and recommendations based on local planning policies, legislation, guidance and professional judgement.
