Cambridgeshire and Peterborough County and City Councils', Children's Service require a highly motivated and resilient Clinical Lead to manage a team of clinician's and therapists who offer evidence based, trauma informed therapeutic interventions, working alongside the Social Work teams, to support the most vulnerable children, young people and families. This includes those on the edge of care, as well as young people preparing for independence. The aim of this service is to deliver integrated and individualised therapeutic interventions to promote best outcomes for service users referred within the Service.

The focus of this role is:

  • To offer 1 year maternity cover for the Clinical Lead and Head of Service for two clinical services across Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council for the most vulnerable children and their families.
  • To manage clinical staff who are delivering an agreed package of care, to Children and families, with complex problems across the developmental spectrum, and managing these within the context of multidisciplinary working.
  • Where you hold a clinical qualification, to support staff in providingexpert and specialist assessment, formulation and treatment using evidence based therapeutic interventions.
  • To ensure that the service is acting in the most efficient way possible and delivering meaningful outcome for families in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
  • Provide consultation to other professionals working with the family and young person within children's social care, health and education teams.
  • To provide line management supervision to clinical staff.
  • To ensure the outcomes of the service are delivered across the two Authority's principles, values and Key Performance Indicators

Candidate Requirement

  • A formal post graduate diploma/degree qualification in health or social care management or equivalent experience (6 years plus) at senior level - essential
  • Sound working knowledge of safeguarding children and processes at level 3 and above - essential
  • Formal post graduate qualification as a Mental Health Nurse/Clinical Psychologist or Evidence based Psychotherapy
  • Experience of working with qualified psychologist/therapist within CAMHS, Children in Care (CiC), services, or services related to safeguarding and/or complex families which could include Local Authority, Forensic Services, NHS or relevant Third Sector organizations
  • Demonstrable experience of working with challenging families where concerns relating to parenting and child welfare have been identified
  • Experience of working with family systems where children have emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties
  • Be able to provide leadership and direction to qualified clinical staff and trainees and to other disciplines as required.
  • Able to provide a high quality clinical supervision to staff from a range of clinical disciplines.
  • Provide professional expertise and work collaboratively with senior managers from all agencies, to further develop the chosen models across services
  • Continue to monitor clinical performance of the service, assuring the quality of clinical care by maintaining robust clinical governance arrangements.
  • Experience of delivering structured consultation, teaching, training and/or supervision on cases which have rapidly changing needs
  • Ability to form positive working relationships with a range of colleagues across Agencies
