Planning Validation Officer
Opus People Solutions, on behalf of Telford and Wrekin Council, is currently seeking a meticulous Planning Validation Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, based onsite at Southwater 1, Telford Town Centre.
Position: Planning Validation Officer
Salary: £13.93 per hour
Duration: 3 months
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
Location: Southwater 1, Telford Town Centre
Job Purpose:
As a Planning Validation Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing administrative and technical support for all technical services delivered by the Development Management Unit. Your primary responsibility will be to process and register planning applications involving complex technical procedures, ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver an essential front-line service via telephone, email, and online channels, providing detailed technical advice.
• Assess and register planning applications, ensuring compliance with statutory planning fee legislation and national/local requirements.
• Determine if planning permission is required, in accordance with the General Permitted Development Order.
• Act as the main point of contact for applicants and agents, offering complex technical advice throughout the validation process.
• Manage and administrate Planning appeals and Public Inquiries, including venue bookings and compliance with health and safety standards.
• Identify and address reports of priority services related to dangerous structures and planning enforcement matters.
• Work to performance indicators, including Quality Monitoring, and provide accurate data for reports.

Essential Experience:

• NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent qualifications/experience.
• Previous experience in Planning and Validation or similar roles.
• Experience within a Local Authority environment is beneficial.
